We wanted to get light and power into an old stone outbuilding. ITS wasn't the cheapest quote but we'd heard good things about the standard of their work, and it turned out to be a good decision. Ray and Dylan were great to have around and the quality of the installation was first class - wiring hidden, conduit runs absolutely straight along the walls and all the screws were into the stone not the mortar. They left the place totally shipshape afterwards and charged exactly what had been quoted - I'd certainly use this company again

I couldn’t be happier with the incredible work ITS Ltd has done on my home! After completing a full renovation, their decorative lighting installation was truly the perfect finishing touch, it has completely transformed the look and feel of our home.

From start to finish, the team was outstanding. Every member of staff was professional, friendly, and clearly very knowledgeable about their craft. They took the time to understand exactly what I wanted and then went above and beyond to deliver something even better than I had imagined.

The attention to detail was exceptional, and the quality of the installation really shows. It’s rare to find a company that combines technical expertise with such a high level of customer care, but ITS absolutely nailed it.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my electrical installation is safe or not?

The best way to find out if your electrical installation is safe is to have it tested and inspected by a person who has the competence to do so.

The existing installation would be tested to ascertain the ‘state’ of the installation, and a visual inspection would also be carried out to check for any none compliances or defects.

Upon completion, an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) would be issued with all the relevant items listed.

Periodically Inspecting the electrical installation within your property can reduce issues further down the line, and may also be a mandatory requirement for insurance purposes, and is a requirement under the PRS scheme to enable you to rent out you property.

Can I do my own electrical work?

You can do your own electrical work if you are competent to do so. Simple tasks such as wiring a plug are within the grasp of many people but more complex tasks, such as modifying an electrical circuit or installation, may not be.

It is particularly important that anyone who undertakes electrical work is able to satisfy the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.

For work on electrical installations below 1000 volts AC, you should be able to work within the guidelines set out in BS7671 ‘Requirements for electrical installations. IET Wiring Regulations. current edition’.

You should also be able to demonstrate competence through the successful completion of a suitable training course and associated qualification.

We would highly recommend that you employ professionals to carry out any electrical works to prevent any issues, or accidents.

Where is the best place to install an EV Charger?

It is always best to install your EV charge point near to where you park, then you’ve done 90% of the work already.

However, don’t only think about where you park now.

Think about where the car will be charging most of the time.

For further help and advice, or to arrange a site survey, please call 0800 999 3454, or use the contact form below to get in touch.

What are my responsibilities electrically as a Landlord to rent out my property?

You have a duty of care to your tenant and must ensure that the installation is safe when they enter the property and is maintained throughout their tenancy.

The Landlords and Tenants Act (1985) and the Private Rented Sector scheme, requires that the electrical installation in a rented property is:

  • safe when a tenancy begins and maintained in a safe condition throughout the tenancy.

We recommend that in order to comply, an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is commissioned on any property you intend to let before getting tenants in. This will certify whether the electrics are safe and tell you if anything needs upgrading.
For further information, please call 0800 999 3454, or use the contact form below to get in touch.

How often should I get my electrical installation tested?

Electrical installations should be tested often enough that there is little chance of deterioration leading to danger.

Any part of an installation that has become obviously defective between tests should be de-energised until the fault can be fixed.

You should have your electrical installation inspected and tested by a person who has the competence to do so, at intervals recommended within the guidelines of BS7671 and any Best Practice Guides.

Depending on the type of installation, age, and environment, the period between testing can vary, so it’s always best to seek professional advice about your particular situation.

What is Part P?

Part P applies to electrical installations that operate at voltages not exceeding 1000 V a.c.

Notifiable work includes new installations, house re-wires, and the installation of new circuits.

Notifiable work also includes additions and alterations to existing circuits in special locations such as bathrooms, external electrical works, amongst others.

We would highly recommend that you employ the professionals to carry out any electrical works to prevent and issues, or accidents.

For further information, please call 0800 999 3454, or use the contact form below to get in touch.

When do I need a rewire?

There are no set guidelines as to when a property should be rewired.

Just because your wiring’s old, it doesn’t mean it’s unsafe.

Many factors can affect the wear and tear of your electrical installation, including the materials used and how your property has been used.

It is recommended that a periodic inspection (EICR) is carried out on any owner/occupied properties at least every 5-10 years (depending on the age of the installation) and every five years for rented accommodation.

The test and inspection will show whether the electrics in a property are safe and tell you if anything needs upgrading or rectifying.
